WEATHER INTRODUCTION

Large bodies of water have the biggest influence on weather. The weather stations of Gore Bay, Sault Ste Marie, and Wawa have micro-climates of their own. In fact, in the case of Sault Ste Marie, the weather reported at the airport is not necessarily the weather happening at their City. The weather reported at these stations is not an indicator of the current conditions at Elliot Lake.

Elliot Lake has it’s own influences. Although protected somewhat from the west by land, it is influenced from the south. The elevation being 600 ft higher than Lake Huron combined with the many local lakes does influence our local weather.
