Once known as the "Uranium Capital of the World", with the closure of all mining, Elliot Lake has become a haven for retirees. Approximately 30% of our current population are in this category. Elliot Lake is located in a picturesque geographical formation known as the Cambrian Shield. Within a mere 50 mile radius are 4000 fresh water lakes. The surrounding area contains an abundance of trails beckoning those with the spirit for adventure, to seek out new fishing spots, or just to enjoy time in the outdoors. Snowmobiling and ATVing are popular pastimes.

The area is a photographers' dream, especially in autumn when the hills are ablaze with colour.
